Facebook has more than one billion active users and that number is growing all of the time. With so many users, many small business owners are looking to Facebook to get their message out. Facebook can be confusing, time and time again I see small businesses setting up a personal profile on Facebook instead of a page. So I'm going to break it down for you all and let you know the difference between a personal Facebook profile and a Facebook page.
Facebook Profiles
- A Facebook profile is a personal account of Facebook, when you sign up, you get a profile
- You can share updates, photos, videos and more with your friends
- Facebook allows everyone a limit of one personal profile
- People can be "friends" with you on your person profile
Facebook Pages
- Facebook pages are for businesses, brands, organizations or celebrities
- You can share updates, photos, videos and more with your followers
- There is no limit to the number of pages you can have
- People can "like" your page and may receive updates on their news feed about your page
Using a Facebook Profile for business is actually a violation of Facebook’s Terms of Service. You do need a Facebook Profile in order to create a Facebook Page, but if you have created a secondary Facebook Profile that should be a page not to worry, you can convert your existing profile to a page.
